Orchard Central's marketing campaign kicked off on 16 July 2007 with an event at The Fullerton Hotel. It attracted retailers and trade experts who were keen to find out more about Orchard Road's tallest pure-retail destination.
Orchard Central is designed by DP Architects as Singapore's first 'vertical mall'. With a gross floor area of 387, 988 sq ft, it rises 11 storeys high, with two basement levels.
Orchard Central also boasts a prime 160m long Orchard Road frontage giving retailers maximum visibility for their stores.
A key design element on the outer shell of the mall is an 11-storey-high 'faceted membrane' which will function as a massive media wall and is set to be an iconic feature at the junction of Orchard and Killiney roads.
Positioned at the mid-to-upper-mid market, Orchard Central will be a draw for urbanites who are attracted to the modern urban shopping experience found in the trendy districts of Hong Kong and Tokyo.
Link bridges to Phoenix Hotel, the 400m URA commissioned Discovery Walk and links to Somerset MRT station will further facilitate access to and from Orchard Central.
When completed, Orchard Central will form an integral part of a 1.2 million sq ft shopping district that is set to change the face of Orchard Road. |
