SPRING JuChunYuan is the only restaurant in Singapore that exclusively serves traditional Min cuisine. It carries the remarkable legacy of the original 143-year-old JuChunYuan Fuzhou restaurant, an institution in itself and a name synonymous with authentic fine Min cuisine.
SPRING JuChunYuan is a joint venture between Far East Hospitality, the hospitality arm of Far East Organization, and JuChunYuan Fuzhou. The opening of SPRING JuChunYuan is strongly supported by the Municipal People's Government of Fuzhou.
The history of JuChunYuan Fuzhou can be traced back to 1865. Since then it has stood for the finest in Min cuisine - one of the top eight major cuisines of China - and has continued to set the standard for fine Chinese restaurants around the world. JuChunYuan Fuzhou has impressed the palates of dignitaries from China and the rest of the world, winning accolades for its culinary prowess.
The world-renowned dish, "Buddha Jumps Over the Wall", was created at JuChunYuan Fuzhou by the famous chef Zheng Chun Fa. The original authentic taste of this highly regarded but complex dish has never been successfully reproduced even though many restaurants around the world serve this dish.
SPRING JuChunYuan will play a part in enriching the food culture and expanding the culinary scene of Singapore by adding the original Buddha Jumps Over the Wall and Min cuisine to the international food map of Singapore
SPRING JuChunYuan is aptly located in historically rich Far East Square, a multiple-award winning conservation project. The restaurant is housed in the building of the former Chui Eng Free School, which was established in 1854, and was one of the first Chinese free schools to provide free education to the poor.
To dine at SPRING JuChunYuan is thus to experience a slice of Min culture and history, in a setting permeating with the history of Singapore Min immigrants. |
