Contribution to the Community
Far East Organization actively supports community projects that seek to contribute to the well-being of the society. These projects range from supporting the underprivileged, educational and youth programmes, to strengthening the framework of the family.
Far East Organization supports the nurturing of young talent for the built and hospitality industries in Singapore through scholarship awards in partnership with industry and academic institutions such as the Building and Construction Authority, Singapore Hotel and Tourism Education Centre and Singapore University of Technology and Design.
To help further the cause of giving, Far East Organization leveraged on its capabilities in real estate development, gifting a 17,000 sq ft space at Central to the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre, and a 18,500 sq ft space at the Novena Specialist Center to Viva Foundation. Through this contribution, Far East Organization created real estate value and provided a legacy for the community.
Staff initiatives like Caring Hearts also adopt selected groups as charity partners to create a positive impact on the well-being of the society.
In March 2011, in memory of the late founding Chairman of Far East Organization, Mr Ng Teng Fong, S$125 million was pledged to support the mission of the new general hospital in Jurong East, to be named Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. The gift will be used to establish JurongHealth Fund that supports needy patients, staff training and facility enhancements.
