Watertown is Punggol’s first residential-cum-commercial development that harnesses the historical and natural beauty of Punggol Waterway - the first-ever man-made waterway in Singapore. It will be the first luxurious waterfront development in Singapore that seamlessly integrates residential, shopping mall, Waterway Point and the Punggol MRT and LRT stations. Watertown is directly located above the Waterway Point with a 10-screen IMAX cinema and a host of popular shopping and entertainment options. A short drive will take you to the upcoming eco-friendly Seletar Mall (ready by Dec 2014). You can expect lush greenery and 6 floors of exciting retail shops in this unique triangular-shaped mall.

My Waterway@Punggol

The Punggol Waterway - Singapore’s largest man-made waterway at 4.2km long is right at the doorstep of Watertown. The Punggol Waterway has won many awards and accolades in 2012. On 15 August 2012, the Punggol Waterway won the Global Superior Achievement Award, the highest honor awarded by the International Water Association (IWA), for the most outstanding project in all categories and this is also the first time an Asian country has clinched this award. On 23 October 2012, it won 2 awards - the FIABCI Singapore Property Award and the Institution of Engineer Singapore (IES) Prestigious Engineering Achievement Award for being an engineering marvel. The waterway also won the gold award in the Project Built category at the 2012 International Awards for Liveable Communities ceremony, held at Al Ain, in Abu Dhabi on 26 November 2012. This latest honor, endorsed by the United Nations Environment Programme, recognizes best practices in the management of local environments.

Punggol to have 7 new waterfront housing districts

The 957-hectare Punggol town will have 7 new waterfront housing districts, a new downtown area and more green spaces. The 7 districts are: Northshore, Matilda, Crescent, Punggol Point, Canal, Waterway East and Waterway West. Flora will also play a bigger role in the nation’s first eco-town, and cycling tracks will also be built in tandem with new roads to encourage a clean commute.

Residents at Punggol can look forward to a greener town, when more green parks and green corridors are being integrated with the waterfront promenades. As HDB’s first Eco-Town, Punggol will continue to serve as a good platform for the pursuit of green initiatives. There will be a sports complex, learning corridor and the Old Punggol Road will be kept as a linear 1.5km long Heritage Trail for all to enjoy leisure strolls, jogging and cycling amidst lush greenery. “Green fingers” – or paths lined with greenery – will extend to reach the coastal promenade and Coney Island, where a park is expected to be completed by 2014. The 1.5km Old Punggol Road will be one such “finger”. The road will be closed to vehicular traffic and converted to a heritage trail for pedestrians.

A new Town Square will be developed in the heart of Punggol town for community gatherings and events, there will also be a new hawker centre and Community Club where residents can gather and organizes local events and activities.
