Expansion of Changi Airport
Prime Minister Mr Lee Hsien Loong announced at the National Day Rally 2013 that Changi Airport will be expanded to include an iconic mixed-use complex codenamed “Project Jewel”, two new terminals and a fourth runway.
Project Jewel and Terminal 4 will be ready by 2017. The airport expects to be able to process up to 85 million passengers a year by then. Changi Terminal 5 is expected to be ready by mid-2020s, doubling Changi Airport’s current capacity and going a long way in ensuring Singapore’s competitiveness as an air hub (Click here to view article). Changi could be “CBD of the east”
Changi Business Park was launched in 1997 as part of the Government’s plans to decentralise economic activities. It had since attracted many companies seeking high quality business space outside the Central Business District (CBD). Singapore’s fourth university - Singapore University of Technology (SUTD)
